CUPE Local 748 is comprised of the support staff of The Kootenay Lake School District #8 as well as the employees of Creston and District Community Complex and Creston Public Library.
Our School district runs from Meadow Creek which is North of Kaslo, to Slocan, then South to Nelson and Salmo over the Kootenay Pass, or over the ferry through Crawford Bay and Creston all the way to Yahk.
We are the people who greet children first thing in the morning as they board the bus. We welcome them and make sure that they have arrived safely at school. We make sure they get the help they need during their school day. We make sure that the schools are clean and shiny. We are the ones who fix everything and make sure the buildings are healthy for all!

5.02 Union Membership Requirement – All employees of the Board shall become and remain members in good standing of the Union according to the constitution and by-laws of the Union. All new employees shall become and remain members in good standing within thirty (30) days of employment.
NEW MEMBERS: We would like to welcome you to CUPE Local 748 and want to make it easy for you to become an active member in the Union, so please come to the next general membership meeting and get sworn in as it is a requirement of the Collective Agreement.
