Accessibility Committee – Volunteers Needed!

Have a say!
Kootenay Lake School District has formed an accessibility committee to comply with BC legislation. The role of the committee is to provide recommendations and advice to the Superintendent on identifying, preventing, and eliminating barriers to people with disabilities in programs, services, and facilities. This will include supporting the development of SD8’s 3-year accessibility plan, monitoring progress with accessibility goals and providing input into accessibility priorities.

CUPE has 2 spots at the table in these meetings (one in October and one in May). Please email michelleb748@gmail.com and cupe748secretary@gmail.com if you would like to contribute. CUPE will appoint Reps from the responses we receive. More information about the committee can be found at the website below. At least half of the committee membership should be persons with disabilities or those who support persons with disabilities. There is also a feedback link to provide comments on accessibility barriers that you have observed.
